Two Advocate hospitals in Lake County named to 'Best Hospitals' list

Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington continue to advance patient safety and expert care; those efforts landed the two Lake County hospitals in U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious ‘Best Hospitals’ ranking survey.

Advocate Good Shepherd ranked 8th in Illinois and is nationally recognized as one of the top 50 hospitals in the country for orthopedics. Additionally, Advocate Good Shepherd is among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation deemed “high performing” in gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, and pulmonology and lung surgery. Advocate Condell ranked 20th in Illinois and is recognized as “high performing” in orthopedics.

In addition to the Lake County hospitals, the four other Advocate Health Care hospitals recognized are:

• Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, Ill. Ranked No. 4
• Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Ill. No. 6
• Advocate Good Samaritan, Downers Grove, Ill. No. 15
• Advocate Trinity Hospital, Chicago, Ill. No. 18

According to U.S. News & World Report, the survey is designed to assist patients and their doctors find the best hospital to treat their illness or condition. Each year, the organization evaluates more than 5,000 hospitals nationwide, assessing objective measures in most care areas, such as risk-adjusted survival, readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
