Wild Onion Brewery in Lake Barrington to Celebrate 25th Anniversary
One of Chicagoland's first craft breweries hosts two-day festival to celebrate a quarter-century of brewing beer

Wild Onion Brewery, one of Chicagoland’s first craft breweries, is celebrating a quarter-century of brewing beer this June with a two-day festival on June 24 and 25, 2022 and a new specialty beer made with 25 different hops.
The festival will be held in the brewery and in an outdoor tent at the 20-acre site in Lake Barrington on Friday, June 24 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. with live music by Pat McKillen; and on Saturday, June 25 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. with bluegrass music by Bourbon Aristocracy. Brewers will be onsite to answer questions and show guests around the facility. The special beer will be a three-dimensional hop bomb and will be available through the month of June.
“We’re proud to have reached this point of reflection; brewing delicious beers for two and a half decades. My family and I had a dream that became reality, and for that we are eternally grateful. The combination of vision, hard work, and family strength are the core to our continued success,” said Mike Kainz, founding brewmaster and co-owner. “The world of craft brewing has morphed and grown in ways we could never have predicted 25 years ago-it’s a very dynamic industry that embraces creativity and change. We had a hunch that beer drinkers wanted more flavors and choices, and took a leap into the unknown when we started brewing draft only in 1997. From the first kegs that rolled out the door, to hand-bottling, to building and opening a Pub (and then a banquet hall), to canning and distributing our beers, it’s been a heck of a ride. There’s no better way to celebrate than raising a pint with all of the people that have contributed to our continued success.”
