1st Batavia Community Hot Sauce In The Works By Pantry, Local Business

Batavia residents can contribute to the hot sauce by dropping off any peppers they gardened this summer.

BATAVIA, IL — Soon, the scents and spices of Batavia will be encapsulated in a hot sauce, the city's first.

The Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Gindo's Spice of Life, based in St. Charles, are collaborating to create a community hot sauce made with peppers grown by residents.

Locals can contribute to the hot sauce by dropping off any peppers they gardened from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11-13 at Gindo's, 2002 W. Main St. They should be cleaned and placed in large Ziploc bags, labeled if possible.
