3 Charged In Fatal West Chicago Shooting: Cops

The victim was reportedly found fatally shot near his car.

WEST CHICAGO, IL --- Nearly a week after 26-year-old Alexander Nicolas was found murdered outside a West Chicago home, charges have been filed against three men who were allegedly involved in his homicide. Juan Calderon, 21, of Aurora, Emilio Guillen, 27, of Rockford, and Fredi Bautista, 26, of West Chicago have been charged with first degree murder, according to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

According to police, Nicolas was found dead in the 600 block of E. Forest Ave. just after 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 9. After an investigation, police say they determined that Guillen, Calderon, and Bautista approached Nicolas as he was standing outside of his car just after 11 p.m. on Nov. 8 to confront him about an apparent gang-related conflict.

Guillen is accused of ordering Calderon to shoot Nicolas, after which Calderon allegedly shot Nicolas in the head. Bautista, Calderon, and Guillen then fled in Guillen's car, according to police.

In a statement, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "It is alleged that these three defendants brutally murdered Alexander Nicolas simply because they believed he was in a rival gang. This gang-fueled violence must be stopped. The senseless killing of an unarmed man in a residential neighborhood will not be tolerated."
