4 New Businesses, Including Cafe And Spa, Opening In Newton House
Four separate ribbon-cutting ceremonies are scheduled for Oct. 21. The businesses are either opening or relocating to the center on Rte. 31.

BATAVIA, IL — A slew of new businesses are opening in Batavia's historic Newton House, and to celebrate, the city's Chamber of Commerce is hosting four separate ribbon-cutting ceremonies Oct. 21.
Argentinian restaurant Bocaditos Cafe and art gallery Derin Fine Arts are relocating their storefronts to the building, located at 11 N. Batavia Ave., while spa MRB Esthetics and marketing company Kristen Holly, LLC, are newly opening.
The four businesses are joining Gia Bella Designs, an artisan market and candle bar, at the house. The shop was established in 2019.

The first ribbon cutting will start at 3 p.m. More details about the four ceremonies will be shared as the event nears, but Shirley Mott, communications and membership coordinator for the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, told Patch the event will be held outside if the weather permits.
"We will be cutting a ribbon for each one ... yet it'll all be under the umbrella for one event," Mott said, adding it will be the first time she can remember that the city has done four ribbon cuttings in one day. "It should be fun."

At Newton House, Bocaditos Cafe — which will be located on the first floor along with Derin Fine Art — will have a commercial kitchen, patio and dining area, which is the reason for their relocating, Mott said. The cafe's original space was on Wilson Street.
In the art space, Mott said impressionist artist Derin Isikman also teaches and does art therapy. At Kristen Holly, located on the second floor, small businesses can get help with their social media and marketing needs, whereas neighboring MRB Esthetics specializes in facials.
With the new businesses opening in Batavia, Mott said it "shows we have a dynamic community" since there's "an interesting variety just in this one building."
