75 Gallons Of Diesel Spilled In Car Vs. Truck Crash In Batavia: PD

The collision, resulting in both drivers sustaining minor injuries, happened on North Washington Avenue around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday.

BATAVIA, IL — About 75 gallons of diesel were spilled Tuesday morning after a car crashed with a truck at the intersection of North Washington Avenue and Lathem Street, according to Batavia police.

Batavia police and fire crews were dispatched at 9:11 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a crash with injuries. First responders determined a 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling east on Lathem Street when it collided with a 2013 Mack CXU613 that was driving south on Washington Avenue, spilling diesel fuel as a result, Sgt. Michelle Langston told Patch.

The driver of the Pontiac sustained minor injuries, Langston said, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Mack driver was also minorly injured and was treated by Geneva medics before being released on the scene.

Washington Street was closed between Fayette and Lake streets until about 1:05 p.m. while first responders and city crews cleaned up the fuel and cleared the vehicles.

Langston said the report is not yet complete. Patch will provide any updates about the incident when they become available.
