All 3 Booster Vaccine Options Now Available At Kane Vax Hub
Eligible Kane County residents can now choose between the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots at the vax site in Batavia.
BATAVIA, IL — Eligible Kane County residents looking to get a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine can choose between all three available types at the Kane Vax Hub, in Batavia, as of Monday.
Located at 501 N. Randall St. in a former Sam's Club building, the Kane Vax Hub is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Appointments can be made online, and walk-ins are also welcome.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted emergency use authorization for single-dose boosters of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine Oct. 20, while the Pfizer booster dose was authorized in September. People who opt to get an additional dose can "mix and match" the available options.

Not available to everyone, the booster shot is authorized for people who meet certain criteria. People eligible should wait six months after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine to get a booster shot. Anyone vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson's single dose should wait at least 2 months for a second shot.

Those eligible are people 65 years or older, anyone 18 and older who lives in long-term care settings or has underlying medical conditions. People 18 and older who work or live in high-risk settings can also receive a booster shot.
First responders, education staff, food and agriculture workers, and grocery store and public transportation workers are among the people considered to work in high-risk settings.
Public health officials also recommend people talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition to decide if an additional dose is needed.
To make a vaccination appointment, people interested can visit the Kane County Health Department's website. Children between the ages of 12 and 17 can only receive the Pfizer vaccine and must get a signature from their guardian on the Pfizer consent form.
