Popular Grocery Store Recalls Dessert Due To Possible Glass Contamination

Illinois is one of the seven states affected by the recall.

| Updated

BATAVIA, IL — The popular grocer Aldi has recalled a dessert that "may contain foreign objects," specifically glass.

The Quebec-based manufacturer Lactalis Canada issued a recall for vanilla creme creme brulee sold exclusively by Aldi, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The dessert is packaged in glass jars.

Aldi, whose headquarters are in Batavia, sold almost 2,900 cases of the potentially contaminated product, the FDA reported.

The potentially contaminated desserts had a use-by date of May 9. The item's barcode was 4099100342826.

Besides Illinois, the recalled desserts were sold in six other states: Indiana, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New York and Virginia.

The desserts are not the only Aldi product under recall. Frozen pizzas sold at Aldi, in addition to Walmart, were affected by a recent recall of meat and poultry products whose dairy ingredients may be contaminated with salmonella.
