Batavia Blotter: A Cannabis Tale, Paint Scratches and Miscellaneous Mischief

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Here are miscellaneous items from the Batavia police blotter from July 7 to July 14, 2013.

Scratches at Car Wash?

Someone reported paint scratches with yellow paint transfer to a vehicle at Fox River Car Washing, Inc., 19 S. Prairie St., around 7:09 p.m. July 14.

Warrant Services

  • Batavia police arrested Joe Alvarez, 31, of Aurora at 100 N. Island Center around 3:53 a.m. July 13. He was unable to post bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail.
  • Police arrested Eric M. Jiminiz, 26, of Geneva on a warrant for driving while license suspended. He posted $500 bond and was released with a court date of Aug. 6.

 

Cannabis Tale

Police arrested John Vallery, 24, of Elgin on charges of possession of cannabis after a traffic stop in the 0-99 block of South Batavia Avenue around 1:50 p.m. July 12, reports said. He also was issued a warning notice for speeding. He has a court date of Aug. 6.

Residential Burglary

Batavia police reported a residential burglary in the 900 block of Lockwood Drive sometime prior to 8:51 a.m. July 11. No other information is available.

Wallet Taken From Truck at Quarry Park

Someone took a wallet from the bed of a truck parked at Quarry Park, 400 S. Water St., according to a report filed around 6:33 p.m. July 5. The wallet contained a driver’s license, assorted identification and credit cards and about $70 in cash. The victim told police one of the credit cards had been used to purchase $82.53 in gasoline at a North Aurora station.
