2nd UPDATE: Crews Extinguish Batavia House Fire Wednesday
The fire broke out in a second-floor bedroom.

No one was inside a two-story home Wednesday afternoon when a fire started inside a bedroom there on Batavia's west side.
Batavia fire crews responded at about 2 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a fire at 3 S. Harrison St.

"When we got here, there was smoke coming from the eaves and you could see fire in the southeast corner bedroom," said Batavia Fire Chief Randy Deicke at the scene.

Fire crews did not find anyone inside the home. They entered the house and likely broke windows to let the smoke out.
Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire after it was extinguished.
Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke was also at the fire scene. He said the city also had a downed power line and a car crash at Fabyan Parkway at the time of the fire.
Batavia Patch reported on its Facebook page that the power line was thought to be near Jefferson and Houston streets, just a few blocks from the fire.
A Batavia reader said the crash scene near Fabyan and Route 31 was already clear by about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
