Batavia Library To Close Early Due To Snowstorm
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch that lasts until 6 a.m. Saturday.
BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Public Library is closing its doors early Thursday due to the snowstorm, officials said.
Its closing time was pushed up to 1 p.m. from the usual 9 p.m. closing time Thursday.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Chicago area, which goes into effect at 6 p.m. Thursday and lasts until 6 a.m. Saturday. An accumulation between 2 to 5 inches is expected.

Wind gusts up to 55 mph as well as dangerously cold temperatures as low as 25 to 30 degrees below zero could accompany the snow Thursday. Falling and blowing snow could cause "white-out conditions" with zero visibility at times, Patch reported.

Library staff encouraged locals to check out their selection of books while the building is closed. Magazines, music and movies can be downloaded from the website too.
