KANE COUNTY, IL — A Batavia man has been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for forcing his way into a Batavia home and starting an early-morning fight last year, prosecutors said Friday. The sentence was handed down Thursday after a Kane County jury found Christopher J. Turecek, 37, guilty of home invasion, a Class X felony; and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.

Turecek went to the home on Brandywine Circle in Batavia during the early morning hours of Sept. 3, 2018, and entered the home uninvited. Turecek, of the 900 block of Washington Avenue, got into an argument with someone inside the home before Turecek left, prosecutors said.

Around 4 a.m., Turecek returned, forced his way into the home and beat up the victim. The victim and another person in the home subdued Turecek and held him down until police arrived and placed him under arrest, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
