Batavia Police Reports: Suspicious Incidents, Obstructing Justice, Intoxicated Subject, Cigarettes Snatched

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Here's a potpourri of items collected from Batavia police reports, from news you can use (sign signal out) to some of the more-unusual and suspicious incidents.

Criminal Trespass to Property—Batavia police arrested Dezmon A. Greene of Plainfield for criminal trespass to land around 5:50 p.m. April 9 at 1343 E. Wilson St., reports said. He has a court date of April 14. 

Warrant Arrest—Batavia police arrested Joseph L. Delahunt, 46, of Hoffman Estates around 10:38 a.m. April 8 on a Kane County arrest warrant. Delahunt posted $350 bond and has a court date of June 5.

Sign Signal Out—A stop sign was reported missing at the intersection of West Wilson St. and Barton Trail, reports said. The report was filed around 10:50 p.m. April 6. A temporary stop sign was put up in its place.

Intoxicated Subject—Police reported to the parking lot of Louise White School, 800 N. Prairie St., to assist paramedics with an intoxicated female subject. The subject refused treatment at the time but a short time later called 9-1-1 requesting transport to the hospital.

Warrant Service—Batavia police arrested Laporscha Daniels, 24, of Batavia for driving on a suspended license. She posted 10 percent of the $3,500 bond plus the $75 service fee and has a court date of May 7.

Obstructing Justice—Batavia police arrested Keenan Herlihy, 18, of Batavia on charges of obstructing justice/resisting a police officer, criminal trespass to state land and possession of drug paraphernalia, at around 6:30 p.m. April 1.

Snatch-and-Run: An unknown offender took a carton of cigarettes out of the victim’s hands and ran out of the station toward the Gold Corral’s parking lot around 2:26 p.m. March 23. The man is described as having short black hair, 5-11, 22 or 23 years old, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and tattoos on both sides of his neck.

Suspicious Incident—A female teenager reported that a white van pulled up to her around 4:30 p.m. March 30 in the 800 block of E. Wilson Street and a male white driver called to her. Attempts to locate the vehicle were unsuccessful.

Suspicious Vehicle—A “highly intoxicated” male subject was found in the back seat of a vehicle parked in the lot of Kicks 66, 200 E. Fabyan Parkway around 8:52 p.m. March 29, reports said. The man denied driving the vehicle and complained of chest pains. He was check by paramedics and released to a friend.

Warrant Service—Batavia police picked up Benjamin H. Johnston, 21, of Batavia while doing a routine bar check. Johnston had an outstanding warrant for FTA on illegal consumption of liquor by a minor. He was unable to post bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail for bond call.
