Batavia Teen Charged With Property Damage, Unlawful Consumption, Drug Paraphernalia

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal damage compliants included three arrests between May 6 and May 12, 2013.

Batavia police arrested Robert G. Byland, 19, of Batavia on charges of criminal damage to property under $300, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident around 5:15 a.m. May 12 in the 1000 block of Winnegago Trail, reports said. Byland’s vehicle hit and damaged a city of Batavia fire hydrant. He posted $150 and was released on his signature. He has a court date of June 18.

37-Year-Old Arrested for Criminal Damage

Batavia police arrested Anthony Higgins, 37, of Dunbar, WI, in charges of criminal damage to property after an incident around 5:38 p.m. May 12 in the 100 block of Mayflower Drive, reports said. He posted $150 bond and has a court date of June 11.

 

Damage of State-Supported Property

Batavia police arrested Brandon Filey, 21, of Batavia on charges of criminal damage to state-supported property under $500 around 9:44 p.m. May 12 in the 1300 block of East Wilson Street, reports said. He was transported to the Kane County Jail and was awaiting bond call at the time the report was filed.

 

Damage at H.C. Storm

Batavia police reported criminal damage to property at H.C. Storm Elementary School around 8:38 p.m. May 11, reports said. No other details were provided.

 

Mailbox Removed and Moved

Someone removed a mailbox and post at Riverview Banquets, 1117 N. Washington Avenue, according to a report filed around 3:07 a.m. May 12 reports said. The mailbox and post were found at the intersection of Washington and Douglas Road. The cost to replace the mailbox was unknown at the time of the report.

 

Keyed in Chick Fil A

A vehicle was keyed in the parking lot of the Chick Fil A restaurant, 185 N. Randall Road, according to a report filed around 3:25 p.m. May 10. The estimated cost of repairs was $500.
