BatFest Returns To Downtown Batavia For Ghoulish Fun

The Halloween-themed event — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 — will include downtown trick-or-treating, the Mother's Club Parade and more.

BATAVIA, IL — BatFest, Batavia's annual Halloween-themed event, is returning to the city for a few hours of ghoulish fun Oct. 30.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., BatFest will bring on Halloween fun the day before the official holiday, meaning double the fun. In the past, the event has drawn more than 2,500 people. Guests can trick-or-treat at downtown businesses, witness the Mothers' Club Parade and check out the pumpkin bowl, among loads of other activities.

The Batavia Farmers Market will also take place at Peg Bond Center, 151 N. Island Ave., during BatFest hours. The parade will kick off at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave., at 11:50 a.m. and end at Peg Bond Center.

BatFest Stories is scheduled to take place at the public library from 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., and a reptile show might fascinate audiences at Beardsgaard Barbers — located at 117 S. Batavia Ave. — from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

On the main stage, there will be a slew of performances, including a Monster Mash lesson by performers from Batavia Academy of Dance at 10:30 a.m., a costume contest started at 12:15 p.m., and a pet costume contest starting at 1 p.m.

On Halloween, the city's recommended trick-or-treating hours are from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. this year. Officials also recommend children walk in small groups when collecting candy and carry a flashlight if they're out after dark.
