Burglars Forced Entry, Stole Valuables From Batavia House: Police

Police said multiple rooms in the Towne Avenue residence were ransacked and some valuables were stolen overnight Tuesday.

BATAVIA, IL — Multiple rooms were ransacked, and valuables were stolen overnight Tuesday from a house in Batavia, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at 8:11 a.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Towne Avenue for a report of a burglary. Police determined that whoever was responsible forced entry into the house during the overnight hours.

Residents were asleep during the incident, and no one was harmed, officials said.

In a news release Tuesday afternoon, police said they have no additional information to release about the active investigation. Officials are asking area residents to check their surveillance footage for any suspicious activity from last night.

In light of the burglary, police also reminded locals to secure their homes and vehicles and remove all valuables, including keys and garage door openers, from cars parked in the driveway.

"It is always a good idea to secure valuables inside your home, even when the windows and doors are locked," officials said.
