Kane County, in conjunction with Pushing the Envelope Farm and Northern Illinois Food Bank, is offering a free pumpkin recycling event in Geneva on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, to help you reduce your seasonal holiday waste. See the event flyer here. Jack O'Lanterns, pumpkins, and decorative squashes are highly compostable and it is a real shame to just send them to a landfill, when the nutrients they contain could instead be returned to soil that will grow more healthy food!
