City Seeks Input On Batavia Bike, Pedestrian Path Planning
The plan will be focused on improving walking and biking connections and make intersections safer for pedestrians and bikers in Batavia.
BATAVIA, IL — Batavia officials are looking to create a bicycle and pedestrian plan to improve walking and biking trails throughout the city. To do so, the city needs residents to share their opinions through an online survey and interactive map.
The community-wide plan will be developed in a partnership with the Active Transportation Alliance and Ride Illinois. The goal is to improve walking and biking connections between local destinations, fill gaps in the sidewalk network and make intersections safer for pedestrians and bikers, officials said in a post on Facebook.
The project timeline currently shows City Council will adopt a plan in the fall.

By sharing opinions, residents will help the city make decisions for the plan. In the survey, expected to take 15 minutes to complete, residents will have a chance to share comments regarding areas and facilities that are comfortable and uncomfortable for walking and biking and which improvements should be prioritized.
The interactive map will allow residents to make similar comments but through a visually focused medium, which identifies more than two dozen intersections where crossing is difficult. On the map, bike routes are shown in blue, wheras walking paths are depicted in red.
