Excessive Heat Warning Causes Change In Batavia Garbage Pickup

BATAVIA, IL — Excessive heat is the cause of changes to Groot's garbage and recycling collection this week in Batavia.

The National Weather Service said it will be "dangerously hot" this week, with possible heat index values of up to 115. Heat indices of 115 are possible on Wednesday, and up to 110 on Thursday, Patch reported.

As a result, Groot will begin collection at 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, officials announced Monday afternoon. Residents should have their bins set out at the curb by that time.
