BATAVIA, IL — A garage fire might not have been detected if it weren't for the stored ammunition that went off in the blaze Monday. The residents in the 400 block of Kickapoo Ave. heard shotgun shells popping, which woke them up and led them to discover their garage was on fire, Kane County Chronicle reports.

The fire started around 6:30 a.m. and ammunition was still exploding when firefighters got to the scene of the blaze. According to Kane County Chronicle, none of the ammunition was deemed to be a danger to the responding firefighters and the fire was contained within less than 15 minutes.

The home's garage and two cars sustained damage during the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
