Five Cited for Underage Drinking at Batavia Home
The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Batavia police arrested four and cited one juvenile for underage drinking May 19 at a residence in the 400 block of Wolcott Lane, reports said. The arrest around 12:36 a.m. May 19 and includes the host of the party under a separate charge, according to state law.
Arrestees include:
- Anton Kondaurov, 19, of Wolcott Lane, who was cited under state law as the host as well as for consumption of alcohol by a minor.
- Brandon A.W. Charles, 20, of Batavia
- Alvaro Velazquez, 19, of Batavia
- Emily R. Van Maldegam, 18, of Geneva
- One unnamed juvenile
All the arrestees were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and have a court date of June 18, reports said.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2013, Illinois state law has a little more teeth for those who host underage drinking parties. It is a Class A misdemeanor to host such events, which carries a fine of at least $500, and if there is injury or death resulting from an accident by any of the party-goers, the penalty can be as stringent as a Class 4 felony.
