Grand Jury Indicts Batavia Chiropractor On 76 Counts, Including Creating Child Sexual Abuse Material
The grand jury alleges David Hanson committed the offenses between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 5, 2025. Authorities believe he acted alone.

BATAVIA, IL — A grand jury returned a 76-count indictment against a Batavia chiropractor accused of secretly videotaping at least 180 patients, among them children, as they were getting undressed at his practice on Wilson Street, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said Friday.
The grand jury charged David Hanson, the 44-year-old owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic, with the following felony offenses:
- 19 counts of creating child sexual abuse material
- 24 counts of disseminating child sexual abuse material
- 1 count of reproducing child sexual abuse material
- 22 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material
- 10 counts of unauthorized video recording

When he was arrested Nov. 6, 2025, the Batavia Police Department and Kane County State's Attorney's Office announced similar charges for Hanson, a resident of the 1100 block of Challenge Drive. The same day, a Kane County judge ordered him detained pre-trial, finding Hanson posed a "real and present threat to the community."

The victims were mostly female and ranged in age from children to adults, according to police. Investigators said many of the recordings appeared to be taken from a room used for red light and near-infrared light therapy. Hanson is accused of filming victims using hidden cameras placed throughout his office, Patch reported.

The indictment said Hanson committed the offenses between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 5, 2025. Authorities believe he acted alone.

Hanson's next court date is set for March 12. He remains in custody at the Kane County jail while his case is pending.
