Indoor Farmers Market Season Begins In Batavia
The indoor market runs from November through May at 160 First Street.

BATAVIA, IL — Cold weather has fallen upon Illinoisans, marking the end of farmers market season. But in Batavia, the event will continue except indoors starting Saturday.
The annual Batavia Farmers Market will take place weekly from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. When outside, the event starts at 8 a.m. Located inside at 160 First Street, an average of 26 vendors will be present to sell fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, herbs, flowers, baked goods and more.
Some vendors will also sell CBD products and others will have holiday greenery such as potted holiday bulbs and evergreen wreaths.

SNAP and Pandemic EBT benefits will be accepted at the indoor market, and shoppers will be able to use them on approved food items. People will also be able to double their SNAP benefits with Link Match, which is a dollar-to-dollar match when purchasing fresh local fruits and vegetables.
Run by Batavia MainStreet, the farmers market will remain indoors through May. From June to October, the market is held outside on North River Street between Wilson and Spring streets.

"Our goal encompasses the notion of creating a community-driven social destination as an educational, recreational and healthy resource," the market's mission reads. "The purpose of the Batavia Farmers’ Market is to provide a retail outlet for local producers; fresh, local products for consumers; and a gathering place that encourages a sense of community."
A list of vendors can be found on Batavia MainStreet's website.
Editor's note: This article was updated to include updated information about the number of vendors at the indoor market. There will be 26, not 40 as previously stated. Patch apologizes for the error. Details about using SNAP benefits were also added.
