BATAVIA, IL — K.Hollis Jewelers has now entered the wine and boutique scenes.

The jewelry brand, started 20 years ago by co-owners Karen and Rob Hollis, is moving its storefront from 147 S. Randall Road to 2030 W. Main St., the site of Batavia's former Golden Corral, which closed in 2015. A grand opening is planned for Saturday.

The real estate transition comes with a name change too: K.Hollis Jewelers, Boutique & Wine Bar.

"When the opportunity came up to move into 10,000 square feet of space right across the street from our current location, we jumped at the chance to do something special," Karen said in a statement. "I've always wanted to carry women's clothing alongside our jewelry, but we just didn’t feel we had enough room at our current location to do that. Now we do!"

Before Karen started her company, she worked as a teacher for 14 years. When she needed a break and wanted to start something new, she began making beaded jewelry at her dining room table, according to a news release. A stream of customers soon started filing into her home, so she moved into a small retail space in 2005.

The company experienced its first expansion in 2012 when K.Hollis shifted from handmade beaded jewelry to a full-service jewelry store specializing in custom designs and engagement rings.

At the new location, Rob said they'll be able to better serve their customers by not only expanding to include a wine bar and event space but jewelry design services as well.

"It’s been an interesting project to turn what was once a Golden Corral restaurant into a warm, welcoming retail space, but we had a great team working on it and I think the end result fits our vision for a place where every person who walks through our doors will have a wonderful shopping experience," Rob said in a statement.
