Learn About Climate Issues At Upcoming League Of Women Voters Event
The group, out of central Kane County, will host the Zoom seminar that will feature an online discussion and planning session.

BATAVIA, IL — The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County will host an online event April 14 to discuss climate issues and how they can be impacted at a local level.
The "Spring into Climate Action" will take place starting at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Participants will learn about climate issues, how they connect to Fox Valley communities and how to get involved with the group's Climate Action Team.
Bill Koehl, a member of the LWV of Central Kane County and the League of Women Voters of Illinois Environmental Team, said the event addresses how climate change is not only a global problem but a local one, too.

"The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report shows that we need to act now to avoid the worst, but what does that mean, to 'act now'?" Koehl said in a statement. "Fossil fuel and other business interests are fighting mitigation efforts at the State, Federal, and international levels.
He continued: "For this reason, community members often make the greatest impact by focusing on their city councils and county boards. The influence that we have at the local level can have lasting positive reverberations at the state and national level."
