• BatFest Schedule Of Events Revealed: See What's Planned This Halloween (patch.com) — Batavia's downtown will transform into a Halloween hub on Oct. 24 as more than 5,000 visitors are expected for the free BatFest celebration. Families can enjoy trick-or-treating at over 60 businesses, live performances, parades, contests, and hands-on activities at spots like Peg Bond Center, Batavia Public Library, and local shops throughout the city's core.
   

• Dolly Parton's Imagination Library brings literacy home (shawlocal.com) — Batavia families with children from birth to age five can sign up now for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library through Batavia United Way and receive a free book in the mail every month. The program, funded and managed locally with Fox Valley United Way, aims to build home libraries, spark a love of reading early, and smoothly transition kids into regular library use.
   

• Nobel Prize in physics awarded to Francis Halzen for groundbreaking neutrino research (fnal.gov) — Batavia's own Fermilab gets a spotlight as the Nobel Prize in physics honors a scientist whose neutrino research underpins major experiments now being built partly in town. Construction on the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment at Fermilab connects Batavia to a vast international effort to better understand mysterious high‑energy particles from space.
