Photos From Art In Your Eye 2011

Sharing and building awareness of the arts across multiple forms of media was the order of the weekend in Batavia.

Story teller Donna Lathem pointed at the heavens on Saturday during her ghost story telling session in Batavia and the thunder clapped.

"We just made it yesterday with the storms hitting at the end," said Mark Thorsen, Batavia Arts Council President. "This has been a phenomenal event and a great turnout."

The Art in Your Eye Fine Art Show and Festival on Saturday and Sunday drew residents from all over the region to check out pieces and performances.

"With the arts, our property values are higher, our kids are smarter and the quality of life is better," Thorsen said. He goes on to point out as he encourages Batavians to join the Arts Council and help preserve the arts in any way.

"Without the arts we are really at a loss", he said.

If Sunday's turnout was any indication, the arts are here to stay as it seemed the fashionable thing to do.

Check out our photo gallery to relive the experience or see for the first time how people came out to embrace the arts of all forms - from purchasing works of exhibiting artists, to taking in some artistic sounds, tasting artistic flavor, listening to the spoken art, or participating in hands on demonstrations.
