Six Businesses Awarded For Investment, Confidence In Batavia
The Batavia Chamber of Commerce chose the six businesses to honor with the 2021 Ole Award.
BATAVIA, IL — Six Batavia businesses "whose investment and confidence in Batavia stands out" have been chosen as this year's Ole Award winners.
The Batavia Chamber of Commerce will honor the businesses, listed below with what category they were chosen for, at the Inspire 2022: A Celebration of Those Who Inspire Us event Jan. 27.
- Cabot Properties L.P./Northern Builders, 1252 Pierson Drive
- Awarded for new industrial construction
- The Landings, 2450 W. Fabyan Parkway
- Awarded for new commercial construction
- Gia Bella at the Newton House, 11 N. Batavia Avenue
- Awarded for commercial remodeling
- Tuffy Tire & Auto Service, 301 S. Randall Road
- Awarded for commercial remodeling
- Wilson Street Mercantile, 222 E. Wilson Street
- Awarded for commercial remodeling
- WindMill Grille & Pizzeria, 90 N. Island Avenue
- Awarded for commercial remodeling
A committee of Batavia Chamber members, along with representatives from the city offices and Chamber staff, evaluated all Batavia businesses that met their final permit timing, which was Sept. 1 this year. Once the committee familiarized itself with the improvements or new construction, winners were chosen, according to a news release from the Chamber.

"The Ole Award derives its name from a traditional Swedish name, Ole, to honor the hard-working Swedish settlers that were among the first to call Batavia home," the release reads.
Storage building manufacturer and seller Suncast Corporation, located at 701 N. Kirk Road, has also been chosen by the Chamber as this year's recipient of the Green Ole Award, which goes to businesses that improve water quality and conservation and were energy conscious and sustainable.

"According to their application, enough solar arrays will be installed by the end of 2022 to power all Suncast distribution operations," the release reads. "Additionally, the company set a goal of net-zero carbon by 2040 with a target of 25% reduction by 2025, along with a goal of zero waste to landfill by 2025."
The awards ceremony will take place Jan. 27 at the Lincoln Inn Banquets, 1345 S. Batavia Ave. Tickets to the event, starting at 6 p.m., can be purchased on the Chamber's website. Admission is $55 for Chamber members and $65 for non-members.
