Two Arrested for Armed Robbery at St. Charles Business
Police took two St. Charles men into custody Wednesday for a Jan. 4 armed robbery at Tobacco and Gift Store.

Two St. Charles men have been arrested for an armed robbery that occurred at Tobacco and Gift Store, 1556 E. Main Street, earlier this month.
Rayshawn M. Vonperbandt, 20, of 207 N. 15th St., was taken into custody after police pulled them over for an unrelated traffic stop Wednesday in the 200 block of North Fifth Street. Jacob M. Fahey, 20, of 508 S. 12th St., was arrested outside his home a short time later, according to a St. Charles Police Department press release.
Both are charged with armed robbery, a class X felony. Fahey is also charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer and resisting/obstructing a peace officer after police said he fought with detectives when they attempted to take him into custody.

The men are accused of entering the Tobacco and Gift Store at about 6:27 p.m. on Jan. 4, approaching a display case and demanding the victim’s phone before proceeding to remove two items from the display case. One of the men was armed with a knife, according to a St. Charles Police Department press release.
The two fled on foot through the rear entrance to the business. No one was injured in the robbery.

Fahey and Vonperbandt appeared in bond court Thursday. Bond was set at $130,000 for Fahey and $100,000 for Vonperbandt.
