Johnson Controls, which has a plant in Geneva, is among the top six tech companies people probably don't think of as "high tech."
The "Inside the Ticker" article by U.S. News' Richard Satran, posted on MSN.com, takes a look at six companies that are "rewiring for growth;" that is, using technology breakthroughs to improve what they do.
It points out that the big names in tech — like Apple, Microsoft and Dell — aren't doing real well as far as long-term stock investments. Companies like Johnson Controls, however, are quietly making nice profits for investors because they're using technology to make old processes better.
Johnson controls is described as an "old-line Rust Belt company" that's now a "leader new-car technology."
