BATAVIA, IL — Owners of a Batavia convenience store can now say they have sold a $5.6 million winning lottery ticket. This isn't the first time KL Liquor & Pantry sold a ticket that won big, but it is their biggest winning jackpot.

The ticket sold at the shop, located at 1351 Wind Energy Pass, matched the six Lotto numbers called in Monday evening's drawing: 13-27-30-31-34-38. The winner has not yet come forward — did you buy a ticket here? You may be that lucky person.

Owners Shilpa and Narendra Desai didn't realize one of their customers won the life-changing amount of money until a shopper called Tuesday morning to let them know, according to a news release.

"We quickly checked online and saw that our store's name was published as selling the winning ticket — that was pretty exciting," owner Narendra Desai said in a statement.

The Desai family's shop, which has been open in Batavia for more than 17 years, has previously been the seller of a winning $300,000 Lucky Day Lotto ticket as well as a $50,000 Lotto ticket.

Now that it's confirmed where the multi-million-dollar-winning ticket came from, KL Liquor & Pantry owners will get a bonus of $56,000 for selling it.

A lot of that bonus money will go toward the business, the news release said, but Narendra said he plans to use some for buying holiday gifts and another portion on a potential family trip to Hawaii next year.

"This bonus will help extend the life of our small business and we’ll be able to continue to serve our loyal customers for many more years," Narendra said.

The Illinois Lottery urges the lucky winners to sign the back of their tickets, keep it in a safe place, and call 800-252-1775 for more information on how to claim their prize. Guidelines for mailing in prize claims are available on the Illinois Lottery website. Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw in which to claim their prize, according to lottery officials.
