BATAVIA, IL — The passenger of a Tesla involved in a three-car crash Wednesday afternoon in Batavia died from her injuries, police said.

A GoFundMe campaign identifies the woman as Maggie Espinosa, a Batavia teacher and mother of five children, ages 10, 8, 4 and two 2-year-old twins.

"She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and a truly beautiful soul who touched so many lives with her kindness, strength, and warmth," reads the fundraiser, which is raising money to cover funeral expenses and daily needs and provide stability for the children.

"The Batavia Police Department grieves alongside the victim's family and our community, and we offer our sincere condolences to those affected by this terrible tragedy," officials wrote Thursday evening on Facebook.

The preliminary investigation suggested the Tesla was driving south on Randall Road when it attempted to turn left onto eastbound McKee Street and hit the Dodge, which was driving on northbound Randall Road, Patch reported. Police did not say how the Nissan got involved in the crash.
