CHICAGO — A child who participated in an armed carjacking in Mount Greenwood in November was arrested by the CPD Vehicular Hijacking Task Force, police said.
The 11-year-old boy was identified as one of the crew who took an SUV at gunpoint the afternoon of Nov. 19, 2021 in the 11000 block of South Harding, police said. A woman and her daughter told police they were unloading groceries from their Alfa Romeo SUV in the driveway when two young teens seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
One of the youths pointed a gun directly at the woman and demanded her SUV. A “little boy” who appeared about 10 years old got out of a second vehicle and joined in the armed robbery, the woman told police. She described the rest as young teens. The purported carjackers fled in the woman's SUV and the getaway car. The woman and her daughter were not injured.
