Police responded to a call of a man shot around 11:45 a.m. that day in the 4500 block of South Cicero Ave. Little was found in a parking lot with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died later at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Brewer, of the 10400 block of South Bell Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder after he was identified as the shooter. He appeared Sunday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building at 26th and California for a bond hearing.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said Little was shot just a few blocks away from his home on the 4500 block of South Lavergne Avenue in the city’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood.

Little’s relatives said the family would have preferred Brewer not receive any bail.

“We’re not satisfied with that,” Little’s cousin, April Dunlap, told the Chicago Tribune. “He killed him. He shouldn’t have gotten anything, no bail, no nothing. As they say back in my day, ‘Throw the book at him.’”

Little leaves three children, ages 4, 1 and four months old.

According to the Tribune, Brewer is a documented Gangster Disciple.

The spelling of Danee Brewer’s name has been updated according to Cook County Jail records.
