2 Injured When Metra Train Hits Vehicle In Morgan Park
The driver of the vehicle may have tried to drive around the gate at the 111th Street and Marshfield crossing, Metra officials said.

CHICAGO — Two people were injured when their vehicle was hit Sunday afternoon by a Metra train in Morgan Park, officials said.
Rock Island train #113 left downtown Chicago around 12:40 p.m., and was running express from 35th Street to Blue Island. Metra officials said the train hit a vehicle at the 111th Street and Marshfield crossing in Morgan Park.
There were no fatalities, but two people inside the vehicle were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with injuries. Officials did not have information on their conditions.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle may have disregarded the gate, according to Metra. The crash is still under investigation.
The train was originally due in Joliet at 2 p.m., but arrived in Joliet at 3:20 p.m.
