22nd Police District Celebrates National Night Out, Aug. 4

Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and Morgan Park residents are invited to the 22nd Police District station for National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Back in the day kids played outside on summer nights until the streetlights came on and people kept their back doors unlocked during the day.

This Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m., the Chicago Police 22nd District will be hosting National Night Out, the annual community-building campaign designed to heighten crime awareness and build neighborhood spirit. Families are invited to the 22nd District police station at 1900 W. Monterey Ave., where police are planning a FREE fun evening of food, games, entertainment, giveaways and a bounce house.

The Chicago Police Department, as well as 16,540 communities around the neighborhood will be hosting National Night Out events around the country.

National Night Out was started by the National Association of Town Watch, a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and concerned citizens.

Traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August, 2015 marks the 32nd National Night Out event.
