5K Planned Through Only Farm In City Of Chicago

The "Run Under The Oaks" 5K will start in Mt. Greenwood Park on September 23.

CHICAGO, IL -- A run through the last fully functioning farm in the city of Chicago is planned for later this month. Registration for the inaugural "Run Under the Oaks Mount Greenwood" 5K race is underway for the event planned for the morning of Saturday, Sept. 23.

19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea sent an email reminder for residents to sign up for the race because proceeds will benefit "beautification efforts on our local commercial strips." The 3.1-mile course will begin and end at Mt. Greenwood Park and be focused through the farm at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.

"This event is a great way to start the weekend with a run through the last fully functioning farm in the City of Chicago," O'Shea wrote in his email.
