Alleged Gangbanger Dad Peddling 'Tyshawn Matters' T-Shirts Online

Pierre Stokes is selling T-shirts bearing son's likeness to pay for his share of son's funeral because "there stuff the news not telling."

The father of a 9-year-old boy executed in a gang revenge killing is now selling T-shirts bearing his son’s likeness the day after his mother allegedly purchased a new car from donations to help pay for the slain boy’s funeral.

Police believe that Tyshawn Lee was targeted and lured to an alley one week ago where he was shot repeatedly because of an alleged gang dispute involving the boy’s father, Pierre Stokes.

Stokes, termed “uncooperative” by police in the investigation of his son’s death, created a GoFundMe page in attempts to raise $2,500 for the production of “Tyshawn Matters” T-shirts.

Although the page has since been taken down after fraud allegations arose, a cached version of “Help a father at need” still exists. Stokes explains that proceeds from the “Tyshawn Matters” T-shirts “will go towards the stuff that they didn’t pay for.”

The reference is directed toward his son’s mother, Karla Lee, who reportedly used funds from the $17,000 collected in another online campaign “to help me lay my baby to rest” to purchase a 2015 Chrysler 200.

Lee denied the accusations in a profanity laced video, stating she purchased the car because she no longer feels safe taking the bus to work since her son’s murder.

According to Stokes, “there stuff the news not telling” and “I’m gone man up and say it #WENEEDHELP …”

Thanking people for their prayers and support, Stokes accused the “news” of not telling the full story.

“I understand the mother of my son did wrong by that money but what the news is not telling, that they are only paying for half the cost of everything. They are blaming us so they don’t have to pay the full cost of everything.”

In a final plea, Stokes asks for a chance “to lay my son to rest the right way.”

The three different styles of “Tyshawn Matters” shirts being sold online were priced at $45, $35 and $25. It is unclear if the shirts are still being peddled online.

Stokes appeared to have some support from the comments posted on the cached page.

One woman, who has been “watching the story,” called it “one hot mess”

“How is that fraud when she recieved 17k. Yall jumping down his throat over 2k. Smh They was quick to blame the father about the death of their son … I seen the mother post talks about how much trouble she in, how she need protection … She didn’t even take care of son. The grandmother and father did.”

Another man said that everyone is quick to bash “the daddy”.

“I don’t know either party. I honestly feel the boy got killed for the crap the mom is doing. But the media will always point out the black man as blame. It’s systemic.”

And another:

“This is a mess I’m sorry for that Tyshawn. Is the one who had to suffer because of your ties. Y’all reaching out to the world to help. When you won’t even help find his killers!”

Tyshawn Lee will be laid to rest on Tuesday, with a funeral service starting at 11 a.m. at St. Sabina Church, 1210 W. 78th Place, Chicago.
