CHICAGO, IL — Come out for an evening of drinks, appetizers and live music, and help defeat DIPG this Friday, April 5, at Chicago Gaelic Park, 6119 147th St., Oak Forest. “Reach For The Stars” runs from 7 p.m. to midnight. Proceeds will benefit Anthony’s Avengers Defeat DIPG, which is committed to raising awareness and finding a cure for the disease.
Katie Gaskin established the foundation in honor of her 7-year-old son Anthony Pappalas. The Mt. Greenwood boy bravely battled DIPG for 19 months before passing away in March 2017. Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) is a deadly pediatric brain tumor that almost exclusively affects children between the ages of 5 and 10. Approximately 200 to 400 children in the United States are diagnosed with DIPG each year. DIPG accounts for roughly 10 to 15% of all brain tumors in children.
The Reach For the Stars benefit features the tuneful stylings of DJ Tommy Aces. Raffles and auction items will be available for purchase. This is a 21+ event. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online at Bid Pal Anthony’s Avengers 2019.
