5 In Custody After Armed Robbery At 7-Eleven In Mt. Greenwood

A man entered the 7-Eleven at 103rd and Sawyer armed with a handgun and wearing a ski mask before fleeing with cash Tuesday night.

CHICAGO, IL - A clerk working at the 7-Eleven store at 10301 S. Sawyer Ave. around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night was robbed at gunpoint by a man who fled the store immediately after with an unknown amount of cash. Chicago police say a man entered the store armed with a handgun while wearing a ski mask and announced a robbery.

Reports from neighborhood residents, including a video shared on the Mt. Greenwood Watch neighborhood group, indicate there was a heavy police presence a few blocks east of the store between Albany and Whipple along 103rd Street shortly after the incident was reported and that multiple suspects may have been arrested there.

Five people were placed into custody and charges were pending as of Wednesday morning, according to 22nd District police. Police from Evergreen Park helped Chicago officers in making the arrests.
