Assailants Rob Pizza Delivery Drivers with Wood Board

Cops say drivers were robbed on same block in Morgan Park by six assailants.

Morgan Park 22nd District Police are warning food establishments to take extra precautions when delivering orders after two food delivery drivers were robbed last week.

Police say that a group of six assailants robbed pizza delivery drivers on the same block in Morgan Park on September 23 and September 24.

Someone ordered a pizza to be delivered to the 10700 block of South Loomis Street. The delivery drivers were then confronted by a group of five males and one female.

One of the individuals, armed with a 2-by-4 wood board, threatened the drivers and his accomplices took the pizzas, money and phones from the drivers.

The incidents occurred at 8:45 p.m. September 23 and at 4 p.m. September 24.

The suspects are described as five African-American males between the ages of 18-22, and an African-American female, also between 18-22.

Dist. 22 police recommend the following tips to food establishments offering delivery service:

  • If your business receives an order to the listed location, notify police.
  • Drivers should keep a minimal amount of money with them.
  • Be aware of this crime and alert your business neighbors.
  • Retain records on all caller and order information.
  • Pay attention to suspicious people loitering in the area.
  • If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm.
  • Do not pursue a fleeing assailant.
  • Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any suspicious people, including vehicle description and license plate information.
