Bail Set at $90,000 for Alsip Man Charged in Mt. Greenwood Robbery

Police said Alsip man and 17-year-old brother robbed three young boys in alley with BB gun.

Bail was set for $90,000 for an Alsip man who robbed three young boys in Mt. Greenwood with a BB gun on Monday, police said.

Tavious Thurman, 19, is charged with aggravated armed robbery with a firearm. According to the charges, Thurman and his 17-year-old brother were driving through an alley in the 11100 block of South Kedzie Avenue around 8 p.m. when they saw three young boys, 16, 15 and 9.

Thurman is alleged to have slammed on the brakes, when his brother pulled out a BB gun. The brothers were able to get a $10 bill and Samsung Galaxy cell phone, DNAInfo reported.

The Mt. Greenwood boys were able to provide a detailed description of Thurman and his vehicle, a 2000 Nissan, to police. Chicago police picked up Thurman moments later.

Thurman appeared in bond court on Tuesday. In addition to the $90,000 bond, he has a $5,000 related to an outstanding warrant from Winnebago County. Earlier this year, Thurman was convicted of trespassing in Cook County.

Thurman, of the 3700 block of West 119th Street in Alsip, is due back in court on October 26.
