Best Neon Sign In The Neighborhood: You Decide

CHICAGO (BEVERLY, MT. GREENWOOD, MORGAN PARK) — Neon signs are a sign of a classic neighborhood, and the Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park communities on the Far South Side still have their fair share of neon signs.

We're looking to find the favorite one among neighborhood residents and visitors who follow Patch. So we've created a poll on Twitter to do just that.

The most popular current neon signs in the neighborhood according to a quick callout on Facebook last week seem to be the ones outside S&T Provisions, Fox's Beverly Pub, Janson's Drive-In and Beverly Woods.

For what it's worth, only the S&T sign had every letter working in bright neon when I drove around the neighborhood to snap photos of them Monday night.

While Beverly Woods Restaurant has closed, their neon sign remains so it's still considered current for this poll.

Other comments about great local neon signs include the one at the former Mt. Greenwood Hardware store (which Barraco's has kept a portion of lit), the old Martinique and Petey's Bungalow in Oak Lawn. Barraco's also kept the Naples Bakery neon sign running at their location in Evergreen Park.
