Beverly Area Arts Alliance Opens 'Horse of a Different Color' Art Exhibit
Horse Thief Hollow, O'Rourke's Office featuring equestrian-themed art.

The Beverly Area Art Alliance (“The Alliance”), founder of the Beverly Art Walk, to curate equestrian-themed exhibit as part of its quarterly Local Art on Tap showing. The “Horse of a Different Color” exhibit will feature painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and assemblage by local artists opening at Horse Thief Hollow (HTH), 10426 S. Western, Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. with featured work also on display at O’Rourke’s Office, 11064 S. Western.
“Some artists from Blue Island came to me with the idea of doing a horse-themed show at Horse Thief Hollow,” said Sal Campbell, board member of The Alliance and HTH curator. After the initial proposal, she shared the idea with other artists and art lovers, and HTH. “Horses evoke such a wide range of ideas and emotions—notions of passion, strength, mystery, majesty, freedom, speed, power, chance and enlightenment, to name just a few,” she said.
The opening event on March 31 will include food, beer specials at HTH, live music, and a raffle. Raffle proceeds to be donated to Victory Reins Therapeutic Riding Center in Peotone. Victory Reins provides therapy for children and adults with physical, emotional, neurological, or psychological special needs by offering the opportunity to care for, connect with, and ride horses. Of its regular participants, more than 40 percent are from Beverly/Morgan Park, including resident and chef Alvin Green, whose son, Aiden, has attended the center since 2008 to help manage autism. “Like the credit card commercial says—the joy on Aiden’s face when he is on a horse is priceless,” said Green.
