Beverly Man Plans To Climb Mount Everest For Charity

Terry Herr wants to raise nearly $30K for an organization that supports foster children while climbing one of the world's tallest mountains.

CHICAGO, IL — A Beverly man and Christ the King parent plans to climb Mount Everest next spring to raise money for an organization that helps foster children. Terry Herr, owner of Chicago wealth management company Herr Capital Management, LLC, has a goal to raise $29,029 for the Children's Home and Aid group.

A DNAinfo Chicago story tells of Herr's goal to raise $29,029 for the organization. The number is significant because Mount Everest, which is among the world's tallest mountains, has a height of 29,029 feet.

This will be Herr's first time climbing the mountain at the border of China and Nepal. To complete the feat, he'll have to climb more than double the height of his current record of 14,400 feet.

"This (will be) a brand new adventure," Herr said.

So far, Herr's "Carin for Kids" fundraiser, has raised $2,650. But that total could go up sharply on Oct. 28, when Herr will host a murder mystery dinner at the American Legion Hall in Evergreen Park. The "Midnight at the Masquerade" event will be an Improv-style show with many Second City alums confirmed as actors, according to DNAinfo.
