Beverly, Morgan Park, Mt. Greenwood 2017 Memorial Day Parade Honors the Fallen
Beverly Area Planning Association plans showcase of patriotism and honor for 2017 parade.
CHICAGO, IL -- Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives fighting for America’s freedom. Honoring the true meaning of the day the Beverly Hills/Morgan Park/Mount Greenwood Memorial Day Parade will follow the Ridge Run, stepping off from 110th and Longwood Drive. Participants and spectators are encouraged to join BAPA, parade participants, community leaders and families for the laying of the wreath, color guard and Memorial Day ceremony.
The parade will begin immediately following the Ridge Run races at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 29. Over the past several years, the Beverly Area Planning Association’s Memorial Day Parade committee has worked hard to expand this popular event into a true showcase of patriotism and honor. Many individuals, businesses and organizations have contributed time, funds and support, exhibiting the depth of their commitment to our fallen heroes and this venerable South Side community.
U.S. Army veteran Rich Doyle is Grand Marshal of this year’s Memorial Day Parade. Doyle served in the Vietnam War and rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming a sergeant during this three years on active duty.
