“Following an initial investigation and notification of family members, authorities have confirmed the remains to be those of Daniel Davis,” the City of Blue Island said in a statement. “The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time. The City extends its sincere condolences to Mr. Davis’s family and loved ones during this difficult period.”
Davis was last seen in person in the early morning hours of Nov. 25, leaving 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, where he served as the entertainment venue’s head lighting technician for more than two decades.
Hours earlier, Davis had been involved in a head-on crash near the Garden Homes Fire Department on Nov. 24. He may have suffered a head injury but refused medical treatment, despite appearing disoriented on Cook County Sheriff’s Police dashcams. It has also been speculated that Davis suffered a mini-stroke or other medical condition at home the morning of his disappearance.
Davis was given a ride back to Bourbon Street by a sheriff’s police officer, where he was last seen in person leaving through the back door around 1 a.m. Nov. 25. Davis was sighted multiple times on home security cameras in Blue Island during the daytime hours of Nov. 25.
On Tuesday, Davis' daughter, Wendy, who has searched tirelessly for her father, shared a statement, saying it was the update she "never wanted to make," adding that "Three and a half months of agony has finally come to a close. As of yesterday afternoon, my dad was located, but is no longer with us."
She paid tribute to her dad, saying, "Now starts a new terrible chapter without my smarter, goofier, and relentlessly selfless other half. This is the news we've all been expecting in a way, but nothing really prepares you for it. I've never laughed harder with anybody than I have with my dad. And I can't wait to do it again someday."
