Brother Rice Robotics Team Sweeps Regional Championships
Brother Rice robotics team qualifies for international competition after sweeping Shedd Midwest MATE Regional Championships.

CHICAGO, IL -- The Brother Rice High School robotics team swept the Shedd Midwest MATE Regional Championships on Saturday. The team qualifies for international competition in June in Long Beach, California. The robotics team took home the following awards, including:
- 1st place for pool missions
- 1st place for presentation
- 1st place for marketing display
- 1st place overall
“I am so proud of the students on our team,” said Coach Dan Mostyn. “Months of hard work and cooperation really paid off today. I can’t wait to watch them represent Brother Rice, the city of Chicago and their country at the international competition in June!”
MATE’s international student underwater robotics (remotely operated vehicle or ROV) competition consists of an international event and a network of 28 regional contests. Student teams from upper elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, home schools, community colleges, universities, and community organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club and 4-H, participate.

The 2017 MATE International ROV competition will take place Friday, June 23 through Sunday, June 25th at Long Beach City College.
