'Career Criminal' Charged In Walgreens Robbery
Police have caught the man suspected of fleeing the Walgreens at 111th and Kedzie with cash earlier this month.

CHICAGO, IL - Police have arrested a man in connection with the robbery that occurred at the Walgreens store in Mount Greenwood earlier this month. Jeffrey Burns has been charged in the April 4 incident at the store located at 3220 W. 111th St., 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea said in an email to ward residents on Tuesday.
O'Shea called Burns "a career criminal," someone with at least 16 prior convictions for crimes such as attempted robbery, robbery, armed robbery, aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and driving under the influence.
"It is my sincere hope, that our partners in the judiciary will recognize the danger that Mr. Burns represents to society and act accordingly," O'Shea said. "Moving forward, I will work closely with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office to ensure an aggressive prosecution of this case."

Burns is accused of being the man who entered the store near the northwest corner of 111th and Kedzie at 8:40 p.m. and announced a robbery before fleeing with an unknown amount of cash. He was described in initial reports as a white man, 35-40 years old, 5'7-5'8, 230 lbs. with partly grey hair.
