Chicago Ag Seniors Commit to College Athletic Programs

Student athletes participate in celebratory signing at Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.

Three seniors from Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences participated in a signing ceremony on Monday to commit to their respective college athletic programs.

Mariah Rosito, Wesley Cole and Cloetha Whisenton were the only Chicago Ag seniors to be recruited by colleges.

Mariah has been playing volleyball since fifth grade and started playing club volleyball for the Chicago Juniors in seventh grade. As a high school freshman, she edged out another player to earn a varsity spot on Chicago Ag’s girls volleyball team.

The Mt. Greenwood senior played varsity volleyball all four years of high school as the team’s libero, where she averaged 20 digs a game. Mariah is moving up to the North Side where she will be attending North Park University as a nursing major.

Wesley Cole played defensive tackle and defensive end, and also on special teams. Wesley was captain of the Cyclones varsity football team his senior year and led his team in tackles.

The Beverly six-footer will be attending St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, IN, where he plans to major in business administration with a minor in sports management.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new people and playing college football,” Wesley said.

Cloetha played shooting guard and small forward for the Cyclones’ boys basketball team, where he averaged 18 points a game. He tied a school record for scoring 30 points in a single game.

He lives in Beverly and when he’s not working out this summer, he’ll be working his summer job at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park and Family Entertainment Center.

Cloetha has signed on to play ball for Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL. He plans to major in pre-engineering with a minor in sports management.

All three students have already picked out their dorm rooms and classes.
